Algeria’s National Liberation Front (FLN) has strongly condemned what it describes as a sustained and overtly hostile media campaign by French public broadcasting against Algeria. The FLN, in a statement released today, characterized the coverage as aggressive and a clear indication of a propaganda war aligned with far-right ideologies.
The FLN asserts that the content broadcast by France Télévisions concerning Algeria has devolved from journalism into deliberate misinformation, incitement, and distortion of facts. They accuse the broadcaster of exploiting public service resources to disseminate falsehoods and directly target Algeria’s sovereignty and institutions. This, according to the FLN, represents a serious ethical and professional decline, placing the broadcaster in a position of open antagonism towards a sovereign nation.
The statement emphasizes that the content in question bears no resemblance to legitimate journalism, but rather reflects the worst practices of biased media. The FLN alleges that the French public broadcaster has embraced far-right narratives, abandoning basic professional standards and becoming a tool for settling political scores.
“This latest transgression clearly reveals the panic and confusion within certain French circles who have yet to accept that Algeria is a sovereign nation with independent decision-making power, refusing guardianship or dictation,” the statement reads. It highlights the bold decisions made by the Algerian government, under the leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to establish international relations based on equality, mutual respect, and an end to exploitative practices.
The FLN holds French official institutions fully politically and morally responsible for this dangerous slide, which, it argues, confirms that certain factions in France have not yet overcome their fixation on Algeria and remain captive to an outdated colonial narrative. The party stresses that these attempts at media distortion and blackmail will not weaken Algeria but rather strengthen its resolve in pursuing its sovereign choices. This hostile behavior, they believe, reflects a deep-seated unease with Algeria’s comprehensive progress and its regained regional and international standing.
“Algeria, which achieved its independence through blood and sacrifice, will not be intimidated,” the statement concludes.
