The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) convened its regular meeting at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa to conduct a comprehensive review of the year 2025. This year marks the effective commencement of the current Olympic term, slated to run until 2029. The Federation deemed the past year as demonstrating positive indicators, both in terms of management and the restructuring of the various components of the game.
President Sadi Highlights Foundational Year
In his opening address, FAF President Walid Sadi provided an overview of the first year under the newly elected Federal Bureau, which assumed office on February 25, 2025. He emphasized that the initial focus was on establishing a strong foundation by revising management mechanisms and reinforcing administrative discipline to facilitate the implementation of long-term development programs.
Improved Finances and the Pursuit of Self-Funding
Financially, the President highlighted a marked improvement in FAF’s revenues, attributable to the adoption of a more stringent and rational management approach. This aims to reduce reliance on external funding and gradually transition towards a stable self-financing model, ensuring project sustainability without undue financial pressure.
Competition Reform and Professional Football Restructuring
Regarding organization, Sadi affirmed that revising the competition system is a priority, given observed field-related imbalances. He explained that a series of measures have been initiated to recalibrate professional football by improving club governance and enforcing stricter management standards, aligning with professional requirements and club licensing conditions.
Amateur Football: The Cornerstone of Social Development
The Federation also addressed the importance of amateur football, considering it the bedrock of the football system. In this context, continued support for amateur leagues and clubs was emphasized to improve tournament organization and provide better training and practice conditions, as part of a vision aimed at balanced development across all regions of the country.
School Football at the Heart of the Project
FAF continues to support school football in partnership with relevant sectors, through the organization of the Algerian School Cup 2025 at its three levels (primary, middle, and secondary). Furthermore, ensuring the participation of school teams in continental competitions reflects the commitment to grassroots training.
The Federation’s report signals institutional stability and delivers a message of unity to the football family.
