Algeria Subsidizes Hajj Pilgrimage Costs for Citizens

Algiers – The Algerian government has announced a significant subsidy for citizens undertaking the Hajj pilgrimage this year. President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, during a Council of Ministers meeting held on Sunday, instructed that each Algerian pilgrim receive a contribution of 10 million centimes (approximately $750 USD) towards their travel expenses.

This subsidy reduces the total cost of the pilgrimage for Algerian citizens from 92 million centimes to 82 million centimes. The move aims to ease the financial burden on those fulfilling this important religious obligation.

President Tebboune also emphasized the importance of effective implementation of all decisions made by the Council of Ministers and the government. He instructed Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui to closely monitor the execution of these policies on the ground.

In other news, the President highlighted the strategic importance of the zinc and lead mine project in Oued Amizour, urging that operations commence by March 2026. He noted the project’s potential to generate employment opportunities and provide substantial economic benefits for both the region and the nation.

Furthermore, President Tebboune instructed the Minister of Sports, Walid Sadi, to convey his warmest congratulations to the national football team and its staff, led by coach Vladimir Petkovic. He expressed his best wishes for their success in the upcoming World Cup.
