Criminal Network Dismantled in Algiers for Online Fraud

Algiers, Algeria – Security services in the Algiers province have successfully dismantled a criminal network specializing in fraud and deception through the use of information and communication technology. The operation, conducted by the judicial police unit of the Dararia administrative district, resulted in the arrest of three individuals involved in organized crime.

The suspects are accused of using technology to defraud victims by falsely presenting themselves as a profitable business. This tactic was used to lure individuals and steal their money.

The investigation was launched following intelligence reports regarding the network’s activities. Technical investigations led to the identification and location of the individuals involved. Coordinated with the relevant public prosecutor’s office, search warrants were executed at the suspects’ residences.

The operation resulted in the seizure of significant evidence, including: five laptops, three external hard drives, ten mobile phones, and a sum of 75,000,250 Algerian dinars.

The arrested individuals have been presented before the relevant public prosecutor’s office on charges related to compromising automated data processing systems, defrauding the public, and forgery and use of forged official documents, according to the established penal procedures.
