Strong winds and heavy rain expected in central and western provinces

The meteorological services issued a Level 2 (orange) alert on Tuesday, warning of an active weather disturbance affecting several coastal and inland provinces. The conditions will be characterized by strong winds exceeding 90 km/h and heavy rainfall reaching up to 60 mm locally.

The alert warned of west to southwest winds with speeds ranging between 60 and 70 km/h, with strong gusts that may reach or exceed 80 to 90 km/h. This affects the provinces of Tlemcen, Ain Temouchent, Oran, Mostaganem, Chlef, Tipaza, and Ain Defla, starting Wednesday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Additionally, the provinces of Algiers, Boumerdes, Blida, and northern Medea will be affected from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM.

The meteorological services also forecast significant heavy rainfall (orange alert) in the central and western provinces. Amounts are expected to be between 20 and 40 mm, potentially exceeding 50 mm locally in the central provinces of Algiers, Boumerdes, Tizi Ouzou, Blida, Medea, and Bouira. This bulletin is valid from Wednesday at 9:00 AM until Thursday, February 5, at 3:00 AM.

Rainfall will also cover the western and central-western provinces of Mostaganem, Chlef, Tipaza, Relizane, Ain Defla, Tissemsilt, and Tiaret. Expected amounts range between 30 and 50 mm, potentially exceeding 60 mm locally. This bulletin begins Tuesday night at 9:00 PM and continues until Thursday at 3:00 AM.
