The Ministry of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, in coordination with several sectors and regulatory bodies, has established an integrated system aimed at ensuring a regular supply to the national market during the holy month of Ramadan.
Noureddine Haridi, an official at the Directorate of Quality and Consumer Protection within the Ministry of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, revealed that these measures aim to ensure the availability of widely consumed materials, particularly agricultural products, to meet the typically increased demand during this period.
The official noted the opening of neighborhood markets starting next week, with at least one market in each municipality, allowing citizens to obtain basic goods at competitive prices.
Haridi also mentioned the ministry’s decision to extend the promotional sales period, which began on January 18, until the third day of Eid al-Fitr, in implementation of ministerial instructions.
Haridi pointed to the strengthening of monitoring operations during Ramadan through the increased mobilization of technical agents tasked with fraud suppression. This aims to regulate the market, combat illegal commercial practices, and protect the purchasing power of citizens.
The official also discussed the awareness campaign recently launched by the ministry in anticipation of the holy month under the slogan “Abundance is Available… Rationalizing Consumption is Your Choice,” which will continue until Eid al-Fitr. The campaign aims to encourage moderate and responsible consumption while combating food waste.
Haridi stated that this initiative includes a comprehensive awareness program featuring media spots and activities across various media outlets, in addition to local field work in coordination with various relevant stakeholders.
