Prime Minister Saifi Gharib chaired a government meeting today, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, dedicated to studying several important files.
Initially, the government examined a draft executive decree specifying the conditions for apprentices to benefit from housing at facilities belonging to the employer or residences affiliated with public vocational training institutions. This text aims to create a mechanism for apprentice housing and improve their training conditions by addressing the geographical distance between some public vocational training institutions or economic enterprise headquarters and the apprentices’ residences.
Furthermore, the government heard a presentation on the progress of supplementary programs for the provinces of Khenchela, Tissemsilt, Djelfa, and Tindouf, which were approved by the President of the Republic. The presentation focused on the physical and financial status of the programs, which show significant completion rates, as well as the main obstacles recorded in ongoing projects to resolve them and complete the registered operations within the specified deadlines.
The government also heard a presentation on the annual report regarding major risks for the year 2024. This involved an analysis of the most significant risks recorded in 2024, aspects of disaster preparedness and response, and a series of recommendations aimed at reducing risks and improving and adapting the national disaster risk management system.
Finally, the Prime Minister informed the government members of the President of the Republic’s decision to support the national livestock market on the occasion of Eid al-Adha by importing one million head of sheep. In this regard, the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries was tasked with immediately taking the necessary measures to implement the President’s decision.
