Belmehdi highlights efforts to support religious structures in promoting moderate religious discourse

The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmehdi, highlighted efforts to support the role of mosques, Quranic schools, and Zaouias in promoting moderate religious discourse and consolidating the values of coexistence and social peace among Algerian citizens.

In a press statement following a working and inspection visit to the province, Belmehdi explained that these efforts also aim to promote the voice of moderation that combats violence and all forms of deviation and behaviors foreign to Algerian society.

He also emphasized that his ministerial sector is working to strengthen religious structures that convey the message of Islam, teach the Quran, and elevate the spiritual aspect.

In the same context, he recalled the directives of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune regarding the necessity of caring for and renovating this type of landmark, such as the Green Mosque and the mosques of Arba’in Sharif and Salah Bey in Constantine.

Belmehdi also praised the local efforts made to follow up on restoration and rehabilitation operations for ancient mosques so they can regain their status in receiving worshippers and visitors.
