Seifi Gharib Inspects Progress of Eastern Mining Line Doubling and Modernization Project

Prime Minister Seifi Gharib conducted a field visit to the province of Souk Ahras on Sunday to monitor the progress of the project to double, correct, and modernize the Eastern Mining Line. This strategic project for the eastern region was commissioned by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

The line extends from Annaba through Bouchegouf, Tebessa, and Djebel Onk to Bled El Hadba, covering a total distance of 422 km. The project aims to develop railway infrastructure, increase capacity, and ensure safe and efficient transport for passengers and goods.

The Prime Minister’s inspection focused on the 121 km section connecting Bouchegouf and Drea in Souk Ahras, which includes major technical structures such as Tunnel No. 8, measuring 2,175 meters, and Bridge No. 39, measuring 1,354.2 meters. During the visit, the Prime Minister received detailed briefings on the progress of the works and emphasized the precise monitoring of all project stages while ensuring the application of safety and quality standards.

The Prime Minister stressed that the project serves as an economic and developmental driver for the eastern region, as it will contribute to improving transport between provinces, facilitating the movement of raw materials and products, supporting local investments, and enhancing economic and social development.

He also affirmed his commitment to implementing the President’s instructions to complete the project before the end of the year, emphasizing the importance of coordination between various entities to ensure the project is completed on time and with the highest levels of quality and efficiency.

The Prime Minister was accompanied during the visit by the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Said Sayoud; the Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui; and the Minister of Mujahideen and Rights Holders, Abdelmalek Tachrifet.
