Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi welcomed on Sunday the statements made by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during his periodic meeting with the press, in which he emphasized that the relationship with Egypt and President Sisi is solid and more than brotherly.
President Sisi stated in a post on his Facebook page: “I welcome the statements of my brother, His Excellency President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, regarding the Arab Republic of Egypt, which reflect the depth of historical ties between Egypt and Algeria.”
He added: “What unites the two countries represents a history full of struggle and cooperation in the face of common challenges, and confirms that solidarity between brothers is the true guarantee for safeguarding the interests of our peoples and enhancing the stability of our nations.”
The President had also recalled Egypt’s support for Algeria when it faced aggression in 1963, noting that when Egypt required military support, the late Houari Boumediene was the first to respond and provided full assistance.
