The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) announced on Monday that it has contacted the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) to file a formal complaint and request an investigation to clarify recent events and take appropriate measures in accordance with applicable regulations.
In a statement, the federation emphasized that it cannot overlook the refereeing decisions in the recent match, which raised questions and caused widespread dissatisfaction, impacting the credibility of African refereeing and the international image of African football.
FAF called on all Algerian supporters to show solidarity and rally around the national team, which is currently undergoing a rebuilding phase and continues its path of development following its elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The statement noted that significant upcoming challenges are less than five months away, most notably the World Cup qualifiers, which require collective unity, calm, and support from everyone.
FAF confirmed that the players and technical staff members demonstrated commitment and seriousness throughout the tournament, deserving appreciation and encouragement from the entire national football community.
The statement concluded by stressing the need to draw necessary lessons from this participation to strengthen the work accomplished and prepare for future competitions, with the goal of returning with a stronger and more competitive performance.
