A presidential decree, No. 26-01 dated January 7, 2026, determining the national minimum guaranteed wage, has been published in the latest issue of the Official Gazette. The decree mandates an increase in the national minimum guaranteed wage, setting it at 24,000 dinars instead of 20,000 dinars.
The decree also establishes the national minimum guaranteed wage for a legal weekly working period of forty hours—equivalent to 173.33 hours per month—at twenty-four thousand dinars (24,000 DZD) per month, or 138.46 dinars per hour.
All provisions contrary to this decree are repealed, specifically Presidential Decree No. 21-137 dated April 7, 2021, which previously determined the national minimum guaranteed wage. This new decree is effective as of January 1, 2026.
The issuance of the decree follows the Council of Ministers’ decision at the end of last November to increase the national minimum guaranteed wage.
