Minister of Culture and Arts, Souad Mohelgi, asserted that “Algeria’s stance on the Palestinian issue is rooted and reaches up to the sky,” considering it the mother of all issues for the leadership and people of Algeria.
In her speech at the Arab Resistance Forum held at the Palace of Culture Mufdi Zakaria in the capital, the Minister of Culture emphasized that Algeria has consistently stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people and will never hesitate to do so. She reaffirmed President Abdelmajid Tebboune’s statement that “the struggle of the Palestinian people can never be described as terrorism.”
The minister continued, stating, “Our brothers in Gaza offer the world profound lessons in dignity, resistance, patience, and sacrifice, a triumph for freedom, truth, and honor.”
Mohelgi affirmed that literature and the arts remain majestic shields in the national struggle and cultural resistance over time. She highlighted how poems and songs can transform into weapons, underscoring the powerful role of culture in shaping the narrative.
The minister pointed out the close connection between poets and writers with the issues of their homeland and nation, stating, “It is almost certain that there is no poet in the Arab world who has not supported just national and humanitarian causes.” She emphasized that throughout history, writers have not forsaken their national and humanitarian duties.
Regarding the forum she presided over, Mohelgi noted that this gathering would contribute to deepening shared perspectives on various levels and addressing the complexities of Arab issues.
