The Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union, in its 39th session which concluded today, Sunday, in Addis Ababa, commended the efforts of the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, in his capacity as the African Union Coordinator for Counter-Terrorism and Violent Extremism. This recognition is for his work in strengthening and activating the continental program in this field, contributing to the unification and intensification of coordination among member states.
In a resolution concerning peace and security in Africa, the summit called for the acceleration of the implementation of the practical and concrete proposals he presented, and praised the progress made by the African Union Commission in supporting continental responses to combat terrorism and violent extremism and strengthening the institutional capacities of member states.
Furthermore, the conference adopted the outcomes of the 12th High-Level Seminar on Peace and Security in Africa, held in December 2025 (Oran Process), praising Algeria’s role alongside the A3 countries in defending African issues and interests within the United Nations Security Council.
