The Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency, Omar Rekkache, received a delegation today, Tuesday, from the Turkish group HAYAT DHC, a global leader in the paper, personal care, and household consumer products industries.
The meeting focused on a significant investment project that the group intends to implement in Algeria, involving the production of large paper rolls with a capacity of 70,000 tons per year. This project aims to strengthen national production of raw materials for the paper industry and reduce imports, in addition to producing paper tissues (24,275 tons per year) and sanitary paper products (20,000 tons per year).
The value of this investment is estimated at 13.4 billion Algerian dinars, with expectations of creating 960 direct jobs. The group owns several leading global brands in the fields of household cleaning, personal care, and paper products.
During the meeting, the signal to launch the project was given after Rekkache handed over the investment registration certificate to the representatives of the Turkish group. On the same day, the remaining administrative documents related to the project will be completed at the decentralized one-stop shop in Relizane, allowing the project to officially enter the implementation phase.
After listening to a detailed presentation on the project’s implementation stages, the Director General emphasized the importance of gradually working on producing inputs locally to increase the integration rate in final products. Rekkache also confirmed the agency’s readiness to support the group in establishing additional industrial units or supporting the localization of subcontracting projects, creating a national subcontracting network and providing favorable conditions for the project’s success.
The Director General urged the Turkish group, which includes 67 companies operating in multiple sectors across 17 countries, to expand and diversify its investments in Algeria, alongside its current projects in household cleaning materials, personal care products, and paper products. Rekkache reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to providing full support and necessary guidance in this regard.
