Belmehdi inaugurates new religious structures in the capital

The Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmehdi, conducted a working and inspection visit to the province of Algiers on Thursday. During the visit, he inaugurated several facilities belonging to the sector and laid the foundation stone for other projects, as part of supporting religious structures and strengthening their spiritual and social mission.

According to a ministry statement, the visit was marked by the inauguration of “Dar Al-Sabil” in Beni Messous, one of the most prominent social initiatives in the sector. It is dedicated to hosting patient companions and certain cases requiring temporary accommodation near hospital institutions. This project, coordinated with hospital management, aims to enable patients coming from distant provinces to complete their examinations and treatment in humane conditions that preserve their dignity and alleviate the burdens of travel and accommodation.

In a statement to the media, the Minister emphasized that “Dar Al-Sabil” represents a fundamental pillar in activating charitable endowments and a practical embodiment of the values of solidarity and mutual aid that the sector is keen to establish, especially during the holy month of Ramadan. He noted that these initiatives are part of the government’s program aimed at strengthening the social dimension of religious institutions.

He also highlighted that this dynamic covers various provinces across the country, through the delivery of new mosques before the arrival of Ramadan to enable citizens to perform rituals in the best conditions. This is in addition to supporting Quranic education and expanding charitable work spaces, reflecting the status of the houses of God as institutions that combine a spiritual message with social service.
