Gang Arrested for Robbing Foreign Nationals in Boumerdes

Personnel from the Search and Investigation Department of the National Gendarmerie in Boumerdes have dismantled an organized criminal network that robbed foreign nationals in the municipality of Hammadi.

The National Gendarmerie stated that the case began with a complaint filed by an official from a foreign company reporting the theft of a significant sum of money by unidentified individuals. They were intercepted on the road connecting the provinces of Boumerdes and Bouira by individuals posing as security personnel, who subjected them to a search and forcibly stole a bag containing money.

Following the report, an in-depth investigation was launched by the Search and Investigation Department of the National Gendarmerie in Boumerdes. After activating intelligence efforts and completing all legal procedures, investigators were able to identify and arrest the perpetrators in a short period.

The operation resulted in the arrest of three individuals and the identification of a fourth suspect who remains at large. Authorities recovered 1.285 billion centimes, nine mobile phones, a plastic pistol used by one of the gang members to intimidate victims, and two passenger vehicles used in the robbery.

The detainees will be presented before the competent public prosecutor upon the completion of the investigation.
