Signing of Agreements and Memoranda of Understanding Between Algeria and Greece

Sofiane Chaib, Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Community Abroad, co-chaired with Harry Theoharis, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Promotion, the proceedings of the third session of the Algerian-Greek Joint Committee, held in Athens on January 20, 2026.

This session provided an opportunity to address various aspects of cooperation between the two friendly countries and to strengthen it in areas of common interest, particularly regarding energy, renewable energy, justice, agriculture, culture, tourism, communication, modern technologies, startups, sports, and transport.

The two sides also discussed current international and regional issues, as well as the partnership between Algeria and the European Union and multilateral cooperation and coordination.

The session concluded with the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding between the two countries in the fields of diplomatic training, sports, communication, national archives, and air services.

On the sidelines of this session, the Secretary of State held a series of bilateral meetings with members of the government and high-level Greek officials. These meetings served as an opportunity to deepen consultations and exchange views on various aspects of cooperation between the two countries.
