Prime Minister Saifi Gharib confirmed that the proposed technical amendment to the Constitution is part of completing the institutional framework five years after the 2020 Constitution.
Speaking on Saturday at the Palace of Nations during the opening of a seminar on the draft technical amendment to the Constitution and the organic law concerning the electoral system, the Prime Minister explained that the 2020 Constitution represents a historic initiative, a national achievement, and a fundamental pillar for strengthening the democratic process.
Gharib stated that the 2020 constitutional reforms established the rule of law and strengthened state institutions, noting that the Constitution guaranteed freedoms and rights while enhancing political activity and the role of civil society.
The Prime Minister highlighted that the technical amendments to the Constitution reflect the state’s firm commitment to continuing the democratic path, establishing the rule of law on solid foundations, and ensuring the continuous and successful development of the legal system.
He also revealed that the material and logistical aspects of elections would be assigned to the Ministry of Interior, with all necessary resources provided, while enabling the Independent National Electoral Authority to carry out its supervision and monitoring duties in accordance with the Constitution.
He added that the success of these reforms depends on the involvement of all stakeholders, including institutions, political parties, civil society, and the media, calling for a responsible and positive dialogue that serves the supreme national interest.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuing the reform process and engaging positively with the proposed amendments.
