Heavy snowfall expected in several provinces

The National Meteorological Office reported in a special weather bulletin on Sunday that heavy snowfall, accompanied by hail and strong winds, is expected across several provinces of the country.

According to an orange-level alert, snow accumulation between 5 and 15 centimeters is expected in areas exceeding 1,000 to 1,100 meters in altitude. The affected provinces include Tlemcen and Sidi Bel Abbes, with the alert remaining in effect until noon today.

Another orange-level alert indicates snow accumulation between 5 and 10 centimeters in areas above 1,000 to 1,100 meters until 12:00 PM Sunday in the following provinces: Blida, Medea, Bouira, Tizi Ouzou, Bejaia, Naama, Tiaret, Tissemsilt, Saida, northern El Bayadh, Laghouat, Djelfa, Bordj Bou Arreridj, Setif, Batna, Khenchela, Oum El Bouaghi, and Tebessa.

The office also warned of continued strong winds ranging between 60 km/h and 70 km/h, with gusts occasionally reaching 90 km/h. This alert is active from 3:00 AM Sunday until 6:00 AM Monday in the provinces of Naama, El Bayadh, Laghouat, Djelfa, M’Sila, and Ouled Djellal.
