Student Absences: Strict Instructions for Teachers and High School Principals

The Ministry of National Education has recorded unjustified student absences during the second semester, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. This was revealed through field monitoring of student attendance in educational institutions, especially among final-year high school students.

In a statement, the Ministry of Education noted that the General Directorate of Education informed students and their parents that the Baccalaureate exam questions will be drawn from the lessons scheduled and delivered in the classroom as part of the official curriculum.

The General Directorate of Education, in instructions sent to high school principals, emphasized the need for strict monitoring of both student and teacher absences and the activation of relevant legal and regulatory provisions.

It also required teachers to deliver the scheduled lessons regardless of the number of students present in the group, while ensuring these lessons are recorded in the class logbooks.

The same body called on education directors to continuously monitor student schooling and take appropriate measures to curb unjustified absences.
