Prime Minister Saifi Gharib chaired a government meeting on Tuesday dedicated to examining several files. During the session, the government began studying a draft executive decree outlining the procedures for establishing, organizing, and operating agricultural cooperatives. This text aims to modernize the legal and regulatory framework for agricultural cooperatives in Algeria to enhance their role in agricultural development, food security, and the promotion of rural investment.
To this end, the draft text includes several updates regarding the creation and management of agricultural cooperatives, notably by simplifying establishment procedures through a registration system instead of accreditation. It also clarifies basic laws and internal governance by introducing variable social capital, the possibility of establishing branches, and strengthening the role of cooperative federations.
Furthermore, in implementation of the President’s directives, the government began studying the 2026–2028 roadmaps for each sector before submitting them to the Council of Ministers for approval. In this context, the government heard a presentation on the roadmap for the industrial sector, which focused on diversifying national industry and increasing its contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as well as the strategic vision for strengthening and consolidating the national ecosystem dedicated to developing the industrial sector.
In this regard, the Prime Minister emphasized the general directives concerning the methodology for preparing sectoral roadmaps. This includes identifying the strategic axes of the sector based on an objective diagnosis of the current situation, defining operational mechanisms and tools to implement this strategy, and aligning strategic objectives with available human and financial resources. He also stressed the importance of ensuring sectoral interaction for proposed measures and projects while estimating implementation timelines.
