The Algerian U17 national football team is continuing its training camp in Algiers, featuring players from the local league, in preparation for the Union of North African Football (UNAF) tournament scheduled for March 22 to April 5, 2026, in Benghazi, Libya.
As part of assessing the players’ readiness, national coach Amine Ghimouz organized a practice match on Saturday evening against the Nedjm Koléa U20 team at the National Technical Center in Sidi Moussa, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The training program includes a second practice match against MC Alger’s U20 team, scheduled for the evening of March 3 at the Eucalyptus Stadium.
The national team will compete in the UNAF tournament in Benghazi from March 22 to April 5, 2026, a decisive stage in the qualification race for the 2026 U17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In addition to Algeria and Libya, the tournament features Tunisia, Egypt, and Morocco. The competition will follow a mini-league format of five rounds, with the top three teams qualifying for the 2026 U17 AFCON finals.
The Algerian U17 team will begin its campaign against Libya, followed by matches against Morocco, Tunisia, and Egypt.
