Algeria Launches International Quran Competition Qualifying Rounds

On Sunday, January 22, 2024, Algerian Minister of Religious Affairs and Endowments, Youcef Belmahdi, oversaw the launch of the qualifying rounds for the 19th edition of the International Quran Competition in Algeria. The competition is held under the patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and is held in conjunction with the celebration of the Israa and Mi’raj holiday.

The qualifying rounds are being held virtually through video conferencing with Algerian embassies in the participating countries. The competition is open to male and female Quran memorizers from all over the world. The top 20 contestants from the qualifying rounds will be invited to Algeria to participate in the final round of the competition.

In his remarks at the launch ceremony, Minister Belmahdi stressed the importance of the Quran competition in promoting the values of Islam and encouraging young people to learn the Quran. He also expressed his confidence that Algeria would continue to achieve success in international Quran competitions.
