The Qatar national team, the titleholder and host, has clinched the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023 title following their victory over the Jordanian team with a score of 3-1 in the final match held at Lusail Stadium on Saturday.

The final between the Qatari team and its Jordanian counterpart was filled with thrilling moments, starting with Akram Afif opening the scoring in the 22nd minute with a successfully executed penalty kick.

Shortly after the second half began, Jordanian forward Yazan Al-Naimat marked the equalizer in the 67th minute of the game.

Akram Afif then returned to score the second and third goals for his team from penalty spots in the 73rd and the 90+5 minute of added time, as decided by the Chinese referee Ma Ning.

It’s noteworthy that Qatar, enjoying home advantage and local support, secured the AFC Asian Cup title consecutively after their 2019 victory, which ended with a similar scoreline (3-1) against the Japanese team at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in the UAE.
