Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune attended the Algeria Cup football final this Thursday afternoon at Nelson Mandela Stadium in Baraki, Algiers, as USM Alger faced Shabab Belouizdad in a highly anticipated clash.
To thunderous applause from the packed crowd, President Tebboune descended onto the pitch before kickoff to personally greet players and technical staff from both sides, as well as the match officials.
The President exchanged warm greetings with supporters filling the stadium and held conversations with club officials and players, in a display of his close connection with Algerian football.
Accompanied by senior state officials and government members, President Tebboune stood to attention as the national anthem was performed by a Republican Guard ensemble, in a proud moment for Algerian sport.
