Former diplomat and ex-Information Minister Abdelaziz Rahabi has presented a strategic vision on the short-term trajectory of the Western Sahara cause, telling dzwatch exclusively that the conflict is witnessing a deliberate “forced transfer” of Sahrawi sovereignty to the Moroccan occupier — with Washington playing the role of both judge and interested party simultaneously.
In his analysis, Rahabi confirmed that the past ten months have seen intense, sustained diplomatic activity, deliberately kept out of the spotlight.
He outlined three key justifications for this alarming shift: first, an American-driven urgency overriding any genuine diplomatic commitment agenda; second, a notable retreat of the United Nations role, paralyzed by the Security Council; and third, active efforts to transform MINURSO from a monitoring and conflict-resolution instrument into a tool facilitating this forced sovereignty transfer.
Rahabi stressed that the current US administration has no connection to previous efforts on the file, signaling a dangerous rupture in international legitimacy regarding the Sahrawi people’s inalienable right to self-determination.
