Algeria has emerged as a key regional player in water security during the 8th Algerian Products and Services Exhibition in Nouakchott, Mauritania, showcasing its advanced seawater desalination expertise and opening new avenues for African partnerships.
The Algerian Desalination Company, a Sonatrach subsidiary, was among the expo’s most prominent exhibitors, attracting a high-level diplomatic delegation including ambassadors from Arab, African, and European nations who reviewed Algeria’s strategic desalination achievements.
CEO Lahcen Badeh held key meetings with Mauritanian officials, including the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Water and Sanitation and the Minister of Energy and Petroleum, presenting Algeria’s pioneering experience in managing desalination plants and energy-efficient solutions.
Mauritania’s water ministry expressed strong interest in Algeria’s model, emphasizing the importance of knowledge transfer, training, and technical cooperation — paving the way for future bilateral partnerships serving regional water security and sustainable development goals.
This participation reflects Algeria’s national vision to leverage its institutional expertise, led by Sonatrach, as a trusted infrastructure partner across the African continent.
