Algeria’s Election Authority Unveils Initial Candidacy Results for July 2 Parliamentary Polls

Algeria's Independent National Election Authority (ANIE) has announced the initial results of its review of collective candidacy files for the upcoming People's National Assembly elections, scheduled for July 2, 2026. This pivotal update provides a transparent overview of the electoral preparations.

According to statement No. 26 issued by ANIE, and in compliance with Presidential Decree No. 26-145 (April 4, 2026) which convenes the electorate for the July 2, 2026 parliamentary elections, and in accordance with Organic Law No. 21-01 (March 10, 2021) concerning the electoral system, the Authority has released the preliminary findings from the study of collective candidacies:

**Within Algeria:**

* A total of 788 collective candidacy files were processed, representing 10,168 candidates.

* 77 candidate lists have been accepted.

* 31 lists were rejected, with 16 of these primarily due to failing to meet the legally required number of individual signature forms, as per Article 202 of the electoral law.

* 680 candidate lists are currently under review, pending the results of appeals.

* 6,994 candidates (70% of the total) have been accepted.

* 3,174 candidates (30% of the total) have been rejected.

* 2,878 substitute candidates are still being processed.

**Outside Algeria (for the national diaspora):**

* 66 collective candidacy files were processed, covering 528 candidates.

* 10 candidate lists have been accepted.

* 10 candidate lists have been rejected.

* 46 candidate lists are pending review, awaiting appeal outcomes.

* 364 candidates (70% of the total) have been accepted.

* 164 candidates (30% of the total) have been rejected.

* 100 appeals have been lodged with the Administrative Court in Algiers.

* 84 substitute candidates are currently being processed.

ANIE also reminded political parties and independent lists concerned with submitting new candidacies that the final deadline for depositing new applications is Saturday, June 6, 2026, at midnight (00:00). DZWatch continues to monitor the progression of Algeria's democratic processes.
