The head of the National Independent Authority for Elections, Mohamed Charfi, confirmed today, Wednesday, that the 2019 presidential elections were conducted with complete transparency and no cases of fraud were recorded.

During a press statement on the sidelines of an inspection visit to the Constantine province to inaugurate the new headquarters of the municipal delegation of the National Independent Authority for Elections, Charfi emphasized that the upcoming elections will reinforce the democratic electoral process in Algeria, which began in 2019 and has now reached maturity.

Charfi also announced the decision to include a number of young people who have reached the legal voting age (18 years) and registered for the first time on the electoral lists, to be among the supervisors of polling stations and offices during the presidential elections scheduled for September 7.

This initiative aims to enable this demographic to participate in the voting process, thereby enhancing their political involvement and integrating them into the electoral process. He stated, “Despite their young age, a quota will be allocated to them among the lists of supervisors of polling centers and offices as part of their integration into the electoral process.”

Charfi highlighted that the previous presidential elections in Algeria were not contested regarding their credibility or transparency. He affirmed that Algeria’s efforts to improve the electoral process are noteworthy, as the country strives to provide all suitable conditions for its citizens.

He further emphasized that national harmony is based on the free choice of citizens for their representatives, which has allowed Algeria to prepare for the upcoming presidential elections in an atmosphere of friendliness and tranquility, proving the democratic electoral path. He also reminded that the organizational process for the upcoming presidential elections has started, awaiting the convocation of the electorate.
