Algeria Secures Key Executive Role in African Anti-Corruption Association

Algeria has secured a significant role within the Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities in Africa (AAACA), having been elected to the position of Second Vice-President of the Executive Bureau. The High Authority for Transparency, Prevention, and Fight against Corruption (HATPLC) represented Algeria in this election, which took place in Nairobi, Kenya, during the association's General Assembly.

This election, spanning a four-year mandate, saw Algeria garner 26 out of 30 votes, a testament to the trust and recognition of Algeria's expertise in promoting transparency and combating corruption across the African continent. The outcome reflects the confidence placed in Algeria's experience at the continental level.

During the two-day General Assembly, delegates addressed critical issues concerning the enhancement of African cooperation in the prevention and fight against corruption. Discussions also focused on strengthening partnerships and exchanging expertise with international stakeholders to support the efforts of relevant African bodies.

Representatives from HATPLC reaffirmed Algeria's dedication to assisting African nations in their anti-corruption endeavors. This commitment involves sharing best practices and leveraging Algeria's experience, particularly following its membership in the AAACA's Executive Bureau as the representative for North Africa since 2022.
