Apple plans to incorporate artificial intelligence (AI) features across all aspects of the upcoming iOS 18 for iPhones, including the notifications section, according to a report by Bloomberg.
The report states that Apple will use AI to summarize various notifications received by users throughout the day, as reported by the Arab News Gate website.
This feature will operate automatically, and users can receive a summary of notifications audibly through the smart personal assistant “Siri,” along with other features such as summarizing news articles and enhancing natural language communication.
Many applications deliberately send notifications to users to encourage continuous interaction, often filling the notifications section with numerous alerts regardless of their importance to the user.
Some users feel that the notifications management system in iOS could benefit from further development, and AI might play a role in improving notifications management, offering greater utility to users and reducing distractions.
According to the report, Apple aims to make the AI features in iOS 18 reliant on on-device processing, although some features will be supported by processing on the company’s cloud servers.
