Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has called for maintaining stability within the national football team following its recent participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, praising the squad’s potential and the country’s wealth of footballing talent.

Speaking during his regular meeting with representatives of the national media, broadcast on Monday evening, President Tebboune said Algeria possesses a “genuine reservoir” of talented players capable of achieving major accomplishments when they receive appropriate support and development.

He described the national team as “a truly excellent squad” and stressed the importance of preserving its positive momentum without introducing changes that could interrupt its progress.

“There must be no disruption,” the president said, noting that Algeria had qualified for the knockout stage of the World Cup for only the second time in its history.

President Tebboune also praised the enthusiasm and exemplary conduct of Algerian supporters during the international tournament, particularly in Kansas City. Algeria played two group-stage matches in the Kansas City area, while the nearby city of Lawrence served as the team’s official base camp and warmly welcomed both the squad and its supporters.

According to President Tebboune, the initiative forms part of broader efforts to promote Algeria internationally and present a positive image of the country to foreign audiences.
