Minister of Communication: Our Country Needs Strong and Effective Media

Minister of Communication, Mohamed Laagab, emphasized the importance of specialized training courses for journalists, noting the global trend towards specialization.

In his speech on Wednesday, during a training session for the media family on covering the upcoming presidential elections at the Hotel School in Ain Benian, Laagab stated, “Our country needs strong and effective media, especially since global media is powerful and influential.”

Regarding the training session, Laagab mentioned that “workshops will be organized over three days on fair media coverage of elections and new forms of dealing with elections.”

The minister highlighted that the ministry has opened its doors to everyone without exception, expressing hope that Algeria will become an African media hub.

Laagab also revealed that the ministry will support the Algerian Economic Council in establishing an African Economic Forum that will serve as a space for journalists. Additionally, he announced the launch of an award for the best tourism journalist promoting Algeria, in coordination with the Ministry of Tourism.

Laagab noted that the communication sector has become vibrant and active, affirming that there has been a collaboration with public and private media institutions to serve the nation. He also disclosed that on June 4th, a training workshop on economic journalism will be organized for 60 journalists specializing in economic journalism and data analysis.
