The President of the Constitutional Court, Omar Belhaj, stated that the constitutional amendment endorsed by the people is the first step towards the comprehensive and profound reforms promised by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to build a new Algeria and enshrine rights and duties.

In his speech during the opening of a training workshop for the media, held today at the Hotel School in Ain Benian, Belhaj explained that the constitutional amendment included the enshrinement of the National Independent Election Authority, which is tasked with organizing presidential elections.

Belhaj emphasized that elections are a means of political participation, enabling citizens to actively contribute to decision-making. He added that the election system has undergone fundamental changes, adopting internationally recognized electoral standards.

In this context, Omar Belhaj highlighted that the Constitutional Court has adopted a communication policy based on openness to citizens and society. He pointed out that organizing these training workshops for the media is a testament to enhancing the components of participatory work and bringing constitutional justice closer to citizens.

He added, “The Constitutional Court, through this workshop, aims to contribute to the new constitutional and legal developments related to presidential elections and to provide the media with all the constitutional and electoral terminology necessary to elevate the level of media performance.”
