Oran Authorities Act to Counter Illegal Beach Exploitation

In a concerted effort to uphold public access to its coastline, authorities in Oran have taken decisive action against the illegal exploitation of beaches. Six individuals were recently placed in provisional detention by the public prosecutor at the Aïn El Turck court, following their arrest by a mobile brigade of the judicial police from Aïn El Turck district security. This intervention highlights the ongoing commitment to protecting the rights of citizens to enjoy public spaces without hindrance.

The operation led to the seizure of a significant amount of illegally installed equipment along the littoral. Specifically, law enforcement officers confiscated 60 chairs, 14 tables, and 33 parasols. These items were being used by the implicated individuals to unlawfully occupy beach areas, impeding free access for vacationers.

This action is part of broader and continuous efforts by the Algerian state to guarantee free access to beaches and safeguard vacationers from illegal operators. It aligns with clear instructions issued by the Ministry of Interior regarding the gratuity of beach access and is overseen by Mr. Ibrahim Ouchen, the Wali of Oran. Security services across the Oran Wilaya are actively continuing their control operations throughout the summer season, aiming to eradicate such practices and ensure that the right of citizens to free and unhindered access to public beaches is fully respected.
