Relizane Province Records 1.05 Million Quintals Cereal Harvest

Relizane province successfully concluded its 2025-2026 cereal harvest campaign with a collection of approximately 1.05 million quintals. This volume represents a significant increase compared to the previous season, which yielded an estimated 300,000 quintals. The harvest was gathered from 88,000 hectares dedicated to various cereal crops across the province.

The remarkable progression in cereal production is primarily attributed to favorable weather conditions, particularly the rainfall recorded in January and February. These precipitations played a crucial role in enhancing crop development and overall yields, with an average provincial yield of about 16 quintals per hectare. Notably, some regions, including Mendès and Sidi M’hamed Ben Ali, achieved yields as high as 60 quintals per hectare.

Further supporting this agricultural success, the 2025-2026 campaign saw the commissioning of six new local storage centers within Relizane. Each facility boasts a capacity of 50,000 quintals and is strategically located in communes such as Sidi Khettab, Belassel Bouzegza, Had Chekala, Ouled Aïche, and Sidi M’hamed Ben Ali. With these additions, the province's total cereal storage capacity has expanded from 900,000 to 1.2 million quintals, aimed at bringing storage closer to farms and improving the preservation of harvested crops. The collected quantities were transported to storage centers managed by the Cooperatives of Cereals and Dry Vegetables (CCLS) in Relizane and Oued Rhiou.

The operational success of the campaign was also facilitated by the extensive mobilization of agricultural equipment. The deployed resources included 324 combine harvesters, 3,346 tractors, 629 balers, 1,240 cisterns, and over 1,700 trailers. These means ensured the smooth execution of all stages of the campaign, from harvesting and transport to the secure storage of cereals throughout the wilaya.
