Nationwide Lottery Grants 2,000 Hajj Places to Elderly Citizens

An exceptional lottery for 2,000 additional Hajj places was conducted across Algeria on Saturday. This initiative, implemented following a decision by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aims to provide more opportunities for citizens to perform the Hajj rituals for the 1448 AH/2027 AD season.

The special draw specifically targets citizens aged 70 and above who have previously registered for the Hajj lottery ten or more times without success in the regular draws. This criteria ensures that the additional places are allocated to those elderly individuals who have long sought to fulfill this religious obligation.

According to the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities and Transport, the operation reflects the state's commitment to enabling the largest possible number of citizens to perform Hajj, particularly those in the specified age and registration categories. The lottery was organized at the wilaya headquarters or other suitable locations chosen by local authorities nationwide, with the attendance of the concerned individuals or their representatives.
