Post, Telecoms Deploy Mobile Stations, Offer Free Services

The Algerian Post and Telecommunications sector, in coordination with mobile phone operators, has commenced an operation to reinforce communication networks in areas affected by recent wildfires. This initiative follows the successful containment of the fires and the subsequent granting of access to the impacted regions. The goal is to restore vital connectivity and support communities as they recover from the disaster.

As part of this comprehensive effort, mobile communication stations are being deployed to replace fixed infrastructure that was damaged or rendered inoperable by the fires. These temporary stations ensure the continuity of essential phone and internet services. Additionally, there is a provision to redeploy some mobile stations previously utilized on beaches, if deemed necessary, to further bolster coverage and capacity in the affected zones.

A key objective of these measures is to provide security services, civil protection units, relief teams, and all other field interveners with fast and stable communication channels. This critical infrastructure supports immediate coordination and the uninterrupted flow of intervention and assistance operations. Furthermore, the Minister of Post and Telecommunications has instructed mobile operators to offer temporary free communication and internet services to citizens residing in the affected areas, facilitating essential communication during these challenging circumstances.
