Zahra Tatar Claims Hammer Throw Bronze in Taranto

Algerian athlete Zahra Tatar secured a bronze medal in the women's hammer throw competition at the 2026 Mediterranean Games, currently underway in Taranto, Italy. Tatar achieved her third-place finish with a throw measuring 66.88 meters. The gold medal in the event was claimed by Italy's Sara Fantini, who recorded a throw of 73.03 meters, while Spain's Laura Redondo Mora earned the silver with 67.82 meters.

Representing CR Belouizdad, Tatar's achievement marks a significant contribution to Algeria's performance at the Games. This latest medal elevates Algeria's provisional total to 34 units, comprising 9 gold, 7 silver, and 18 bronze medals.
