Rabat – The Justice Sector Union in Morocco has announced a new national strike from July 23 to 25 in response to the government’s continued disregard for the demands of justice sector employees and the deepening crisis. The union is firmly committed to its demands for amendments to the basic statute.

The National Union of Justice Sector Workers, affiliated with the National Labor Union of Morocco, expressed its dissatisfaction with the Prime Minister’s neglect of the sector’s employees’ demands during the monthly parliamentary session, despite facing the strained situation in the justice sector. The union criticized the government for relying on security measures rather than productive dialogue to address legitimate protests from health sector unions.

The union’s statement condemned the government’s “delay” in responding to the sector workers’ demands, which have been agreed upon for over a year, contradicting the commitments outlined in the government’s agreement with some trade unions at the end of last April. The union called on the Prime Minister to “review” his approach and “lift the veto” against approving amendments to the basic statute of the Judicial Staff according to the agreed-upon version with the Ministry of Justice, holding him “responsible for the consequences of the ongoing protests in the sector.”

Furthermore, the union emphasized its commitment to its demands for amendments to the basic statute of the Judicial Staff, which would also improve the situation of engineers in the sector according to the version adopted by the Ministry of Economy and Finance for its engineers.

The union expressed its readiness to continue escalating protest actions, even planning protests in August if necessary, holding the Prime Minister accountable for the severe impact this situation will have on the entire sector.

The National Union of Justice Sector Workers confirmed its program to implement the national strike from Tuesday to Thursday as scheduled to “secure rights and protect gains.”

In conclusion, the union’s national office condemned the government’s “policy of neglect” and “logic of violence” against protests in the health sector, which are constitutionally guaranteed, expressing solidarity with health sector workers.
