Interior Minister Sayoud Pledges Schools Ready for New Year

Interior Minister Saïd Sayoud has affirmed that all school establishments in areas impacted by recent fires will be fully prepared ahead of the upcoming academic year. This commitment underscores the ongoing state efforts to support and compensate citizens affected by the significant blazes that struck several provinces recently. The Minister provided these assurances during remarks to the press on the sidelines of the ordinary session opening of Parliament's tenth legislative term at the Council of the Nation.

The comprehensive compensation operations, which commenced immediately after a presidential meeting with civilian and military state officials and governors of affected provinces, are now in their final stages. While a deadline of September 15 was established for the completion of compensation processes, the Interior Ministry reports that files have been finalized and closed in some provinces that recorded minor losses. Efforts are actively continuing in Jijel province, which experienced considerable damage, with procedures for finalizing lists and completing compensation measures still underway.

Beyond educational facilities, the state's rehabilitation efforts extend to housing, livestock, and household furniture. The Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City has made significant progress, with the restoration of homes categorized as "green" and "orange" nearing completion. For "red" classified homes, which in some instances required complete demolition and rebuilding, operations are ongoing, with the ministry working to finalize them promptly. Furthermore, the state has provided rental housing solutions for some victims whose homes were in the "red" category. Compensation for damaged fruit trees is also planned, with a tree planting initiative scheduled to begin on October 15.
