Malian Media Commend Algeria’s Sahel Stability Role

Malian media professionals have commended Algeria's role in fostering stability within the Sahel region. Their statements were made during Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb's friendship visit to Bamako, a mission undertaken at the directive of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. These professionals unanimously affirmed that the visit serves as a strong signal of both countries' mutual desire to collaborate towards establishing peace and stability in the Sahel.

Journalist and Sahel specialist researcher Mohamed Ouis El-Mehri noted that the Prime Minister's visit was "highly anticipated" in Mali, emphasizing the significant ties between the two nations. He described Algeria as a crucial gateway to the African continent for Mali, asserting that bilateral cooperation represents a "strategic choice." Mr. El-Mehri specifically cited Algeria's proven expertise in oil, infrastructure, various development sectors, mediation, negotiation management, and crisis resolution across Africa. He further highlighted that the Algerian approach prioritizes dialogue, diplomacy, respect for state sovereignty, and non-interference in internal affairs, alongside a focus on development in addressing African crises, which he identified as key to building stability in the Sahel.

Echoing these sentiments, Malian journalist Abdelaziz Maïga stated that the Prime Minister's visit to Bamako demonstrates "the will of the two countries to work together to strengthen stability and peace and promote dialogue" amid the multidimensional crises impacting the Sahel region. He welcomed the rapprochement between the two nations, underscoring the importance of pooling efforts to address regional challenges. Similarly, journalist Amadou Camara expressed optimism regarding the visit, which he said reflects both countries' dedication to their historical relations, common borders, and deeply rooted fraternal ties, illustrating a clear will to strengthen cooperation and coordination.
