Dhaka Requests Algerian Partnership for Long-Term Energy Needs

Algeria's Ambassador to Bangladesh, Abdelouahab Saidani, recently engaged in discussions with State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties. During these separate meetings, both Bangladeshi State Ministers requested Algeria's enhanced collaboration in the energy sector, aiming to secure Bangladesh's long-term energy supply. The discussions underscored Bangladesh's interest in establishing a strategic partnership with Algeria to ensure its energy stability.

Ambassador Saidani responded positively to these requests, expressing Algeria's willingness to deepen cooperation across various fields. Beyond energy, avenues for collaboration included pharmaceuticals, fertilizer for food security, shipbuilding, maritime shipping lines, trade, investment, and agriculture. State Minister Obaed Islam additionally highlighted potential cooperation in climate change, sports, culture, and encouraged the export of biodegradable jute goods to Algeria, broadening the scope of mutual engagement.

These high-level interactions reaffirmed the longstanding friendship and growing cooperation between Bangladesh and Algeria. Both nations recognized the importance of enhancing people-to-people contacts and facilitating high-level visits to further solidify their partnership. The comprehensive discussions illustrate a mutual commitment to expanding diplomatic and economic relations, with Algeria positioned as a crucial partner in Bangladesh's pursuit of long-term energy security and diversified sectoral development.
