Aflou, Laghouat Wilayas Harvest Over 12,000 Quintals of Apples

Apple production for the 2025-2026 agricultural season in Algeria's Aflou and Laghouat wilayas has surpassed 12,000 quintals, reaching a total of 12,286 quintals. This figure was confirmed by Belhadj Fatma-Zohra, head of the veterinary and phytosanitary inspection service at the Directorate of Agricultural Services (DSA) of Laghouat, according to remarks made to the APS agency.

Harvesting operations are now in their final stages, with 455 hectares already collected out of 576 hectares cultivated for apple trees. The cultivation of apples is recognized as a significantly developing agricultural activity within the region, particularly thriving in areas well-suited for such fruit trees.

This expanding apple sector plays a crucial role in reinforcing local agricultural output and diversifying income streams for farmers. It also consistently supplies local markets, especially during the harvest season which extends through late summer. Such performance underscores the positive agricultural momentum in the wilayas, particularly in fruit arboriculture and the supportive environment for producers aimed at consolidating and diversifying overall agricultural production.
