ANP Weekly Report Details Wide-Ranging Security Successes
The Algerian National People's Army (ANP) has released its weekly operational report for the period of September 16 to 22, 2026, detailing a range of successful security operations nationwide. The report highlighted significant achievements in counter-terrorism efforts, including the surrender of one terrorist in In Guezzam and the arrest of seven individuals identified as supporters of terrorist groups in various operations across national territory. The surrendered individual was found in possession of a Kalashnikov submachine gun and ammunition.
In the fight against organized crime, ANP detachments arrested 38 drug traffickers. Operations also resulted in substantial seizures of illicit substances, including 2 quintals and 73 kilograms of treated hashish that authorities stated were attempts to introduce the drug across borders with Morocco. Additionally, 58 kilograms of cocaine and 136,538 psychotropic tablets were confiscated in separate actions across various military regions.
The report further documented comprehensive efforts against illegal gold mining and other forms of smuggling. Security forces arrested 134 individuals involved in illegal gold prospecting in Tamanrasset, Bordj Badji Mokhtar, Illizi, and In Salah. These operations led to the seizure of 30 vehicles, 192 electric generators, 128 pressure hammers, quantities of raw gold ore mixture, stones, and equipment used in illegal mining activities. Furthermore, 12 other individuals were arrested in connection with various smuggling attempts, resulting in the confiscation of an automatic pistol, four hunting rifles, 10,150 liters of fuel, 20 quintals of tobacco, and six tons of smuggled foodstuffs.
Coastal guard units also played a crucial role in preventing irregular migration, thwarting several attempts along national coasts and rescuing 320 individuals aboard traditional boats. Concurrently, 717 irregular migrants of different nationalities were apprehended across the national territory, reflecting the ANP's multifaceted approach to maintaining public safety and securing the country's borders.
