Belarus Parliament Chairperson Affirms Cooperation Readiness with Algeria

Natalia Kochanova, Chairperson of the Council of the National Assembly of Belarus, stated her country's readiness to enhance bilateral cooperation with Algeria. This affirmation came after her reception by Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, emphasizing Belarus's commitment to implementing partnership agreements previously signed between the two nations.

Discussions between Ms. Kochanova and President Tebboune covered the agreements reached during the Belarusian President's December 2025 visit to Algeria. These include a joint declaration to develop cooperation across economic, commercial, scientific, and technical sectors. Further talks explored prospects for engagement in agriculture, industry, education, health, and pharmaceuticals, focusing on the methods of executing these agreements.

Earlier, Ms. Kochanova also met with Azzouz Naciri, President of the Council of the Nation, where parliamentary cooperation was reviewed. Both countries have established parliamentary friendship groups and exchanged visits. Mr. Naciri is expected to visit Belarus to sign a memorandum of understanding between the upper house of the Algerian Parliament and its Belarusian counterpart. Ms. Kochanova concluded by describing Algeria as a "wonderful country" with a rich history and traditions.
