Attaf Urges OIC Unity, Rejects Double Standards in New York

Ahmed Attaf, Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad and African Affairs, actively participated in the annual coordination meeting of the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in New York. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. During his intervention, Minister Attaf emphasized the critical need to enhance the OIC's efficiency and capacity to address the rapid transformations occurring on the international stage.

Minister Attaf underscored the importance of adhering to multilateral action, strict observance of international law, and compliance with the United Nations Charter. He firmly rejected the application of double standards in dealing with issues related to international peace and security, calling for intensified coordination among OIC member states and the unification of their positions within international forums to build a respected and coherent global coalition. His vision includes fostering a more influential presence for the OIC in international governance.

Furthermore, Minister Attaf highlighted the Palestinian cause, affirming the necessity of continuing diplomatic efforts and international mobilization to ensure the Palestinian people achieve their legitimate rights. These rights include the establishment of an independent and sovereign state with Al-Quds Al-Sharif (Jerusalem) as its capital, in accordance with international legitimacy. He concluded by reaffirming Algeria's steadfast commitment to joint action, solidarity, and mutual assistance among OIC member states, and its unwavering defense of just causes worldwide, with the Palestinian cause at the forefront.
