Bulgaria, Algeria Explore New Trade and Investment Partnerships
Algerian Ambassador to the Republic of Bulgaria, Asma Baabouch, undertook a working visit to Haskovo, located in southeastern Bulgaria. The visit was conducted at the invitation of the local Chamber of Commerce and Industry and included meetings with Bulgarian officials and business representatives to explore avenues for enhancing economic and trade cooperation. Among the attendees were Yanco Yanev, President of the Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Besir Nikolov, Governor of Kardzhali Province, alongside a group of businesspeople and investors.
The discussions primarily aimed at transitioning bilateral relations from traditional trade exchanges to long-term investment partnerships. Ambassador Baabouch presented a comprehensive overview of Algeria's updated investment climate, detailing the facilities, tax incentives, and regulatory frameworks available to foreign investors under the new legal framework. A key emphasis was placed on connecting economic actors in major Algerian cities, such as Algiers, Oran, and Constantine, with their Bulgarian counterparts in Haskovo and Kardzhali.
Priority sectors identified for mutual cooperation included food industries, agriculture, pharmaceutical manufacturing, mechanical engineering, energy, information technology, tourism, and logistics services. Both parties underscored the vital role of economic diplomacy in transforming available opportunities into tangible projects. This initiative seeks to bolster the presence of Algerian products and expertise in the markets of North Africa and the European Union.
