Taksebt Water Pipeline Restoration Ordered Within 48 Hours

Minister of Water Resources Lounas Bouzegza has issued instructions for the swift re-operation of the primary water connection channel originating from the Taksebt Dam in Tizi Ouzou province and supplying Algiers. The directive mandates the channel's restart within a maximum of 48 hours following damage caused by a landslide.

The damage occurred in the Draa El-Kahla area of Boudouaou municipality, Boumerdès province, affecting the channel and potentially leading to temporary disruptions in potable water supply for several municipalities across Boumerdès and Algiers. In response, an emergency plan was immediately activated to ensure continuous water provision. This plan includes reinforcing supply from the Quedara Dam and deploying tanker trucks to the affected regions until repair work is completed and the channel is fully operational again.

Minister Bouzegza, accompanied by the Wali of Boumerdès and local authorities, visited the damage site to inspect the channel's condition and the progress of intervention and repair efforts. During his visit, he directed that work continue around the clock, with all necessary human and material resources deployed, to meet the 48-hour re-operation deadline. He also emphasized the importance of ongoing field follow-up and close coordination among all involved parties to ensure that the work is completed and water re-supplied under optimal conditions.
